Description
Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is made up of the ten Greater Manchester councils and the Mayor, working together with local services, business, communities and other partners. Recognised as the undisputed pioneers of English devolution, we are working together to make Greater Manchester a better place for all, through collaborating, empowering and delivering for almost 2.9 million residents.
We are at an exciting point of the city region’s journey. As one of two national devolution trailblazers, we are receiving more freedom, flexibility and influence over crucial policy areas. The forthcoming refresh of our Greater Manchester Strategy and an accompanying long-term delivery plan will set out how we plan to turbocharge growth and create tens of thousands of new homes and jobs over the next decade.
Our Director of Economy, Innovation and Culture will play a leading role in our local growth strategy. You will ensure that our city region builds on its position as the fastest growing economy in the UK and a place with internationally renowned culture, heritage and creativity. This includes ensuring that the opportunities and benefits of our growth are available to all places and people across Greater Manchester, while maximising Greater Manchester’s contribution to delivering the national industrial strategy.
As a key member of GMCA’s senior leadership team, you will drive initiatives, oversee programmes and projects. You will collaborate with partners to achieve our strategic objectives, shaping the economic, cultural, and innovation landscape of Greater Manchester.
Bringing experience of economic strategy development and delivery, you will oversee the implementation of our local growth plans, support the development of individual sector plans, work with partners in the planning of critical infrastructure, and influence policy at a regional and national level.
Overseeing our range of world-class cultural and creative activities and initiatives, this is a critical role in promoting the rich heritage and diversity of our city region and the enormous contribution they make in local neighbourhoods through to Greater Manchester’s place on the world stage.
